Welcome to our page.
In This Together Swindon provides support to parents and carers of children/young people, who have mental health difficulties. Everything that we have done over this year has been at our own expense and in our own time.
We currently run the only support group in Swindon, for parents/carers whose children/young people have mental health difficulties, so that we can share our experiences in a safe, non judgmental and confidential environment, make new friends, find emotional and moral support.
We go into schools for coffee mornings, to meet staff, parents and carers. After our first coffee morning, we were asked by the parents/carers whether we can run a monthly support group at their school, which we have agreed to do.
An estimated three children in every classroom has a diagnosable mental health problem. Around one in every twelve young people deliberately self-harm, though this may rise to almost one in three in girls aged 15. Half of all lifetime cases of diagnosable mental health problems begin before the age of 14 and 75% before the age of 24. (Statistics taken from Young MINDS Wise Up To Wellbeing In Schools)
